"I nominate pianist Michele Rosewoman as an heir to Henry's (Threadgill) throne. She writes works that are marvelously intricate, deeply complex, and a joy to listen to. On "Harvest', she concocts a delicious cross-cultural stew of musical styles, blending jazz, Cuban and African rhythms to gorgeously textural effect."
PHILADELPHIA WEEKLY PRESS

"Michele Rosewoman's third Enja quintet date is brimming with the hard-nosed playing and fluent writing that has made her one of the more intriguing pianists to emerge in the past decade. Rosewoman digs deep into the modern jazz piano tradition and the West African origins of Cuban music to create a program that has the exciting immediacy of hard bop and the unfolding depth of Santeria ritual. 'Harvest' is a persuasive statement of Rosewoman's talent, passion and determination." JAZZTIMES

"With delicate beauty and intensity, Michele's music bends the borders of cultures, not just notes. …She has picked up a variety of torches and created a bonfire." JAZZ IZ MAGAZINE

"Rosewoman's new 'Harvest' CD on Enja is the group's most impressive recording to date. Billy Strayhorn's Blood Count in Rosewoman's orchestration is a poignant, numbing, distinctive listening experience. 'Patrick's Mood' features Rosewoman in all her keyboard glory--bits of Cecil Taylor, the rambunctiousness of Jaki Byard, the sensitivity and harmonic imagination or Bill Evans. She has emerged in recent years as the finest and most eclectic of composing pianists in the Afro-Latin, bebop, free-jazz field. And she seems able to convey, through her compositions, her moods, her global music concepts and her performing excitement."
SAN FRANCISCO EXAMINER

"Pianist Michele Rosewoman has an amazing amount of intense dramatic energy. Don Pullen and Cecil Taylor have nothing on this woman. 'Harvest' spotlights her vast arranging and composing gifts. The question remains: How long does Rosewoman have to continue to toil before she deservedly gets signed to a major label?" GAVIN

"Rosewoman represents all that is new and exciting in jazz. Her prowess on the keys is staggering. She possesses an absolute command of color and mood, swimming in buoyant, uplifting melodies, then, without a moment's notice, dropping into dark, haunted passages. Equally at home experimenting with the atonal sounds pioneered by the jazz avant-garde or laying it down smooth and lyrical in supreme Ellington fashion. Rosewoman epitomizes technical proficiency. She blends Afro-Cuban traditions with those of the European modernists, and her admiration for Monk is understated and respectfulrather than purely imitative like a great many lesser players.” "BAY AREA MUSIC MAGAZINE
